Setting Up Email Sequences

5 min readUpdated Mar 14, 2026

Overview

Email sequences are automated emails sent to subscribers over time. They nurture your waitlist, build anticipation, and keep your audience engaged.

Creating a sequence

  • Go to **Emails → Sequences** and click **New Sequence**.
  • Name it (e.g., "Welcome sequence" or "Launch countdown").
  • Set the **trigger**: when does this sequence start?
  • - **On signup** — Immediately after someone joins

    - **On tag** — When a subscriber is tagged (e.g., "VIP")

    - **On date** — At a specific date and time (great for launch day)

    Adding emails to the sequence

Click **Add Email** to create each step:

  • **Subject line** — Keep it short and curiosity-driven
  • **Body** — Use the rich text editor. Supports markdown, images, buttons, and personalization tokens
  • **Delay** — How long to wait after the previous email (e.g., "2 days", "1 hour")
  • **Send time** — Optionally restrict to a time window (e.g., 9 AM - 12 PM in the subscriber's timezone)

  • Personalization tokens

Use these tokens in your subject line or body:

    |-------|--------------|

    |---|-------|---------|---------|

    Best practices

  • Keep emails short — 150-250 words max
  • One CTA per email
  • Use the subscriber's first name when available
  • Test subject lines with A/B testing on broadcasts first
  • Monitor open rates and unsubscribe rates after each email
