Double Opt-In Configuration

2 min readUpdated Mar 11, 2026

Overview

Double opt-in means subscribers must confirm their email address before being added to your waitlist. It's optional, but recommended for quality.

Why use double opt-in?

  • **Higher quality list** — No typos or fake emails
  • **Better deliverability** — Email providers trust confirmed subscribers
  • **GDPR compliance** — Provides clear proof of consent
  • **Lower spam complaints** — Only genuinely interested people join

  • How to enable

  • Go to **Settings → Signup Form**
  • Toggle **Double opt-in** to on
  • Customize the confirmation email (optional):
  • - Subject line (default: "Confirm your email")

    - Body text

    - Button text (default: "Confirm my email")

  • Set the **confirmation redirect** — where subscribers go after clicking confirm

  • How it works

  • Subscriber fills out the signup form
  • GetLaunchDay sends a confirmation email with a unique link
  • Subscriber clicks the link
  • They're added to the waitlist with a confirmed status
  • The welcome email sequence begins

  • When to skip double opt-in

  • Running a quick validation sprint where speed matters more than list quality
  • Targeting a niche audience where fake signups are unlikely
  • When you're driving traffic from trusted sources (e.g., personal LinkedIn)

  • Note on metrics

Double opt-in will reduce your total signup count — typically by 20-30%. But the subscribers you keep are more engaged and more likely to convert.
