Managing Unsubscribes

2 min readUpdated Mar 7, 2026

Overview

Every email sent through GetLaunchDay includes an unsubscribe link. This is required by law (CAN-SPAM, GDPR) and helps maintain healthy deliverability.

How unsubscribes work

  • Subscriber clicks "Unsubscribe" in the email footer
  • They see a confirmation page with options:
  • - **Unsubscribe from this project** — Stops emails for the current project only

    - **Unsubscribe from all** — Stops all emails from your account

  • They're immediately removed from active sequences
  • Their data remains in your subscriber list with an "Unsubscribed" status

  • Viewing unsubscribes

Go to **Subscribers → Filter → Status: Unsubscribed** to see who left and when.

    Reducing unsubscribes

  • **Send relevant content** — Don't email just because you can
  • **Space out emails** — No more than 2-3 per week
  • **Set expectations on signup** — Tell people how often you'll email
  • **Use preference centers** — Let subscribers choose email frequency
  • **Segment** — Don't blast the same email to everyone

  • Re-subscribing

If someone unsubscribed by accident, they can re-subscribe by:

  • Signing up again on your landing page
  • Contacting you directly (then you manually toggle their status)

  • **Note:** Never manually re-subscribe someone without their explicit consent. This violates anti-spam laws.

    Unsubscribe rate benchmarks

  • **Under 0.5%** — Excellent
  • **0.5-1.0%** — Normal
  • **Over 2.0%** — Review your content and frequency immediately
