Understanding Your Validation Score

5 min readUpdated Mar 15, 2026

Overview

The Validation Score is a composite metric (0-100) that tells you how strong the demand signal is for your idea. It combines multiple data points into a single actionable number.

How it's calculated

The Validation Score weights five categories:

|--------|--------|-----------------|

Each factor is normalized to a 0-100 scale based on benchmarks from 28,000+ validated ideas on the platform.

Interpreting your score

|-------|--------|-------------------|

Requirements for an accurate score

  • **Minimum 200 unique visitors** — Below this, the sample size is too small
  • **At least 7 days of data** — Short timeframes produce noisy results
  • **Active email sequence** — Without emails, engagement metrics are empty

  • Improving your score

Focus on the weakest factor. If your signup rate is high but referrals are low, optimize the referral mechanics. If email engagement is weak, rewrite your sequences.
